O The Game Awards 2025 entrou para a história graças ao desempenho avassalador de Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. O RPG por turnos da Sandfall Interactive não apenas levou o prêmio de Jogo do Ano (GOTY), mas conquistou um total de 8 estatuetas, estabelecendo um novo recorde na premiação.

Com esse feito, o título superou a marca histórica de The Last of Us Part II, que havia vencido 7 categorias em 2020. Clair Obscur dominou as categorias técnicas e artísticas, vencendo Melhor Direção, Narrativa, Trilha Sonora e Direção de Arte, além de consagrar a atriz Jennifer English.

A noite também encerrou longas esperas da comunidade: Hollow Knight: Silksong e Hades 2 venceram nas categorias de Aventura e Ação, respectivamente. Já nos anúncios futuros, GTA 6 confirmou seu favoritismo como o Jogo Mais Aguardado.
